poster:cammogirl Posted on: 11:42 pm on Sep. 9, 2002 I stalked off towards the back door, scowling to myself along the way. Where the hell did Sarah get off, treating me like that? Like I'd do anything to hurt Annie - I'm a fucking X-Man, it's my profession - no, not my profession, my life *mission* to protect people. I swore under my breath like this until I reached the door, and I fought to calm down, so that my walk with Annie was a nice experience (at least for her, since it was completely ruined for me now). Annie walked up, wearing the old jeans and jumper she was wearing before, and shoes this time. She looked great. I smiled, probably a little faintly to be my regular self. "Hey." Gee, don't I sound peppy? "Hey," she responded smiling, before pausing, "Who killed your puppy?" I shrugged and opened the door. "Someone looking out for your welfare against Cameron, Happy-Go-Lucky Rapist at Large." I stopped and pointed out the door. "You sure you want to go out there with me? You might not come back alive." I hadn't planned on talking about this with her, but it spilled out anyway. Gah. I was an idiot. This was only going to lead to trouble. "I'm going to take a guess and say that I missed something..." I strolled out onto the path leading to the prettier part of the gardens with Annie, sighing deeply, wondering if I really wanted to incriminate Sarah in this. They had already had one big fight that nearly ruined their friendship, I didn't want to make it two. I blew a sigh through my lips. "Just... when I was walking to the kitchen, a little birdy threatened my safety if I did anything to hurt you." I eyed her. "It wasn't the threat that bothered me, it was the fact that I they thought I'd do that, that they thought the threat was needed. Cause I'd rather throw myself in front of Magneto himself than hurt you." I blushed at that, not realising that I'd spoken something so personal out loud. She wrapped an arm around me before looking up and saying, "This little birdie wouldn't be the one that was lecturing me before my breakfast, would it?" I returned the gesture, resting my other arm on her hip. "Depends, is the birdie a scary girl with a penchant for animal-men?" She smiled. "One in the same. That girl is confusing as hell. Currently I'm torn between wanting to rip her a new one and being touched that she cares enough to give out unnecessary threats." I shrugged. "I wouldn't mind so much but..." I pouted, looking down to my feet as I stabbed the ground. "It really shocked me. I thought - I dunno." I shrugged again. "It just hurt me." She gave a little squeeze, "Then I'm going to have to side with ripping her a new one. She's my friend but I think I'd have to lable her delusional." I shook my head. "No, I don't want you two fighting again. It's not worth it." She gave a little huff, "You're no fun, you're probably right, but you're no fun." I cradled her jaw and smiled, "Don't worry, I'll make it worth your while." She blushed a little but smiled, "Oh yeah?" I nodded with a playful smile, and leaning down I kissed her softly, my lips pressing against hers, suckling ever so gently on her top lip. With a careful tilt of my head I opened my mouth to her a touch, more of an offer than anything. Cutest thing was that, with a heated little sigh, she clutched my shoulder, not seeming to know what to do with herself. Well, I was a gentleman but I figured it might do to show her. I eased my tongue in, just the tiniest flick against hers, and she stilled for a moment before trying it herself. I smiled in the kiss, stroking her jaw, then pushing her hair gently behind her ear. I pulled away, lips brushing against her. "Sorry about that... guess I got carried away." She looked a bit dazed, "Nothing wrong with that..." "Oh..." I shrugged and nodded. "Okay then." And then I did all I really felt like doing all day. I kissed her again.
Poster: Allison Posted on: 1:05 am on Sep. 12, 2002 OOC: This sucker is looooong and I don't know how it got this way... Cammo and I spent the next hour or so walking and not walking. Unfortunately it was cut a bit short when the clouds I hadn't noticed, decided to empty themselves. It took us a minute to realize that we were being rained on, but eventually we hurried inside. Normally I like rain; it was sort of a rare thing so you appreciated it when you did get it. As of this moment, I still wanted to be outside with Cammo's arms wrapped around me and his lips killing all my brain cells. Instead I was wet, inside and nowhere near as close to him as I'd like. I've gotten quite attached in the past 20 hours, haven't I? Maybe I should be thinking about that but he's smiling at me. "I completely lost track of time, didn't you say you had to meet with Hank at three?" I frowned, puzzled looking at the clock on the wall, it was 2:15, and I needed to take a shower and change into some dry clothes. "Damn" "Come on, I'll walk you to your room," he offered, entwining his fingers in mine. Ms. Munroe nodded at us when we passed her, I realized she was pretty much the only teacher I’d seen all day, not that I was really looking for them. I didn’t give it a whole lot of thought because soon we were outside my door, and Cameron was playing with my semi-wet hair. I sighed, “I’ll see you later, right?” “You can count on it,” he answered, lowering his lips on to mine lightly. I moved mine up to deepen the kiss and wrapped my arms around his neck. I didn’t care that we were in the middle of the hallway and the professor himself could roll by at any minute. I didn’t really care about a whole lot to tell the truth. I saw a grin spread across his face as we finally pulled away, I could guess that mine mirrored his. “So, later then,” I said, giving him one more quick kiss. I had to force myself to open the door or else there was no way I’d be able to take a real shower and change before my session with Hank. I walked into my room, to meet a variably disaster area. Angelica had every inch of the room covered in shoes and hair supplies and make up. She took one look at me and asked, “Why are you all wet?” I rolled my eyes, “Rain has a tendency to not be dry. Have you even looked out the window?” Apparently she hadn’t judging by that yelp, “It can’t rain!” “Obviously it can,” I was entertained by her reaction. This was three steps up from a drizzle and she’s flipping out. “This changes everything!” she cried. “Does it now?” I asked slipping into the bathroom while she was distracted. I locked the door quickly. Sure enough there was a dainty pounding, “You can’t be in there, I need the bathroom.” “You’ve had it for god knows how long! I need to take a twenty-minute shower. DEAL,” I called through the door. When I stepped out twenty-one minutes later she was glaring at me. I smiled cheekily, “It’s all yours.” I went into my drawers and pulled out my favorite pair of cargo pants. They were hand me downs of hand me downs of hand me downs, they had started with Kevin’s older brother Rielly and over time had wound up in my possession as everyone else grew out of them. They were threadbare in a few places and stained in a few more, but they were comfy. After grabbing a sweatshirt and re-towel drying my hair I headed down to the med lab. I arrived a few minutes later only to find him not there, and nobody could tell me when he would be getting back. I grumbled and headed back towards the dorms. As I walked back towards my room I knocked on Sarah's door on the chance she was in there. We needed to have a little chat. "Hey." "Hey yourself." She sounded casual, but she was crumpling a freshly ironed shirt in her fist. "Everything ok?" "Yeah and no," I answered, not sure how to broach the subject. "The truth is, I'm a little confused." "Confused?" Ahh, how to phrase this right so no one ends up hung-over or in the med lab "I don't entirely understand why you thought it was necessary to threaten bodily harm to Cammo." She visibly relaxed. "He told you about that?" She shrugged. "I didn't want to see you get hurt." I threw an arm casually around her shoulder, "And as much as I appreciate the gesture, did you really think it was necessary?" She looked at my arm, but didn't move it from her shoulder. "I wouldn't have done it if I didn't." She only came up to the line of my hair, you kind of forget how small she is, height wise. I gave her a friendly squeeze, "I'm glad you think I'm worth protecting and all but why did you think it was needed?" Sarah moved off, busying herself with her laundry again. "I - " She slammed the drawer shut and took a deep breath. "Some guys only stop if you make them - if you can make them. I wanted to make sure he knew he couldn't get away with it." "And you think Cameron, is one of those guys?" I'm starting to freak myself out here; I sound a bit too much like a psychiatrist, 'What do you think?' or 'How does this make you feel?'. I sat on the bed; not worrying about mussing it up, a 6.0 earthquake couldn’t mess up her sheets. "I dunno, but I wasn't going to wait and let you find out the hard way." "Did you have to hurt his feelings?" "There was another way of making my point?" I gave a long sigh, as she continued "And having it stick?" "It's just… He wouldn't do anything like that and…" I trailed off remembering something he said. "Who's Magneto?" "A very serious bad guy: destroyed the Statue of Liberty, kidnapped Rogue, tried to kill Logan, had me kidnapped. Not a nice person, why?" "Doesn't sound like a fun guy. And it was just something Cammo said Not a big deal really." I don't know what I did in my previous life to deserve this karmic pay out out, but I must have rescued a bus full of school kids. I don't think that, "I'd rather face Magneto himself," comment was just a line; he looked a little embarrassed when he said it. "Anything involving that psycho is a big deal," Sarah muttered. She was probably right but, hey, what did I know? “Yeah, well I don’t think you need to worry about Cam forcing me to do anything I don’t want to in the next few eons.” "Doesn't mean I'm gonna stop watching and making him squirm from time to time." She grinned. "I got a reputation to uphold here." “Still, no more hurting my boyfriend’s feelings. I don’t go round threatening to neuter Max, you don’t threaten Cammo.” "Can I still glower at him? You know a little narrowed eye action, a small hiss, the hard stare? Nothing major," she wasn’t even trying to keep and amused look off of her face. "And weren't you just swearing to me this morning that he was not your boyfriend? Oh how quickly things change." “I never said he wasn’t my boyfriend… At least I didn’t say so this morning,” I protested. “And I don’t know if he’s my boyfriend but I’m pretty damn sure… I think.” Sarah chuckled. "If it looks like a duck..." “Oh shut it, your pheromones went boy shopping for you, you’ve got a warranty on Max. Some of us don’t have that same sort of certainty,” I stuck out my tongue, I would’ve thrown something, but I didn’t know what she’d do to me if I wrinkled one of her shirts. Sarah shrugged, "The pheromone thing is ... weird." “Which translates to a degree of normalcy in this household.” "True. Although we get looked at pretty oddly even here. Speaking of odd, your roommate is setting new standards today. Has you swapping spit with Cameron finally sent her off the deep end or what?" "Beats the hell out of me, I'm almost afraid to go back in there and get my English book... And why would she care about me and Cammo?" She blinked. "You really are blind. Angelica has a crush on your boyfriend." I gave her an odd look, “He thinks she’s a snoot.” That wasn’t defensive in the least bit, nope. And its not like I’m jealous of Angelica what’s there to be jealous of? Cammo said he’d fight off the mutant boogieman for me, not Angelica. See, I’m not jealous. "Yes, but he listens to her play and gives her that smile of his. That'll turn most girls’’ heads'. How you resisted so long I don't know." “I didn’t think about it ok?” I had been waiting for Sarah to bust out an “I told you so.” “And Cam’s just nice to everyone.” "True, but he always looks at me like he can't decide if I'm insane or just odd." “Angelica never threatened him with bodily harm,” I pointed out. "Details, details," she said with a wink. "I'll have to have a chat with The Professor. Vigilantes should have thicker skin." She sobered then. "You think I need to apologize to him, don't you?" “You don’t absolutely have to… But it’d probably be a good idea if the air was clear for everyone,” I wasn’t about to order her to apologize to Cameron, or anything. "I guess I could find a less... violent way of expressing my concerns." I was impressed with the diplomacy Sarah was showing, offering to apologize and then admitting she might have done something wrong, your lucky if she shows you this side. “To a few people at least, you can still threaten the people who look at you the wrong way,” I grinned, checking to make sure she got the joke. "As long as I can still do that. After all, we're supposed to be learning to maximize out talents here. "You haven't seen Max today, have you?" “Nah, I was watching the race with Sam and then Cammo and I went for a walk,” and what a nice walk it was too… “Why?” "He's plotting some kind of surprise for me tonight. I was hoping for a hint." "Ooooh, someone's getting’ lucky tonight." She laughed. "Someone gets lucky every night." “Don’t I know it,” I snorted. "Jealous?" I could feel my eyes bugging, “Not exactly.” "I know, your taste runs to blue- eyed surfer boys." She snorted and shook her head, a smile still on her face. "No accounting for taste." I snorted, I could’ve corrected her, I didn’t think the other guy I had liked had blond hair or blue eyes, and he played basketball, he didn’t swim. He was also an asshole if I remember correctly. Shoot me I was twelve.
poster:Nacey Posted: 10:56 am on Sep. 13, 2002 Check check check... Got classical music CDs. Check. Got stereo... check. Ran outside, avoided rain, set up said CDs and radio... check! Set up table, chairs, one of the Professor's nice linen tablecloths with the 'X' embroidered on the corner... check! Got single rose in crystal vase as centrepiece... check! Food... better check. I ran into the kitchen. There Remy was puttering away, batting away the odd student that came in to fix something to eat. I rubbed my hands together, looking over his shoulder. "No! Go away! I told you--" Remy stopped and sighed. "You owe me so much, homme." "I know, man,"I said, and grinning, I grabbed his shoulders and jumped up and down excitedly. "This is so COOL!" "Aiy-ay... yes I know... off the cook already!" "So what are we eating?" "I am finishing the starters," Remy said. "Crawfish boulettes." I looked confused. "Huh?" "Bread-crumb overed crawfish balls," he supplied. "Aaah!" I glared at him. "Isn't that expensive to make?" Remy eyed me. "Did you seem to miss de fact dat we live in a mansion?" I rolled my eyes and nodded. "Okay okay. And? What after that?" "Well, wit' de boulettes go de grilled goat cheese salad." "Goat cheese?" "Is not so bad." "I'm trusting you on this one," I said. "What's that?" I pointed to another dish. "Chicken rochambo wid garlic and chives mashed potatoes, and some linguine with a lovely tomato and parmesan sauce." I blinked at Remy. "Isn't that rather italian?" He blinked back at me. "Hey... it goes well wit' de chicken and it's somesin' my mother taught me." "All right all right..." "And for desert," he said, "Chocolate crepes with fresh strawberries." He grinned at me then, wiggling his brows. "You feed dis to each other... tres romantique." I grinned brightly and nodded, "Perfect! I gotta go get ready. You set then?" "Oui," he nodded. "I will be ponderin' on what you shall do for me in return for dis, boy." I nodded. "I owe ya big, Rem!" He nodded with a satisfied look on his face. I raced to my room then, and dug out the nicest clothes I had. I wanted to look really good for my girl tonight!
poster:Jen Posted: 7:02 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 Oops... this was supposed to be Angelface. Beat me with a wet noodle. Annie’s rude interruption had me behind schedule and now, with her news of rain, I needed to rethink everything: hair, dress, shoes. Everything! Why did it have to rain, today of all days. I wanted everything to be perfect. No use crying about it. I’ll just ruin my makeup. Onto Plan B. Plan B went into effect rather smoothly. Thank goodness I picked up my dry cleaning yesterday, or I’d be in a serious jam right now. Even with the complete change of outfit, I’m still on schedule. And now, not. Where is that man? I have checked everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. I need to relax. He promised to take me and he wouldn’t let me down. He’s not like that. “Excuse me, Miss Munroe. Have you seen Mr. Summers?” “Angelica, I’m sorry he’s not here. But you look lovely. What’s the occasion?” “I’m supposed to be going to the symphony with a friend. Mr. Summers was going to drive me, and if I’m going to make curtain I need to leave really soon. Can you take me?” She shook her head sadly. “I’m sorry, I cannot leave the school unattended.” “What am I going to do?!” I will not panic. Panicking is beneath me. Who am I kidding? “If I don’t make this date, Dimitri may never ask again.” Miss Munroe gave me a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. “If you can find someone else to take you, you may still go.” Now that may pose a problem. I guess I could ask Annie. Not that I have much faith in her driving abilities, but beggars can’t be choosers. Maybe luck is starting to realize how horribly she's been treating me because Annie is currently searching around the room. "Hey, have you seen my copy of All Quiet on the Western Front?" “I believe you left it by the tub.” Not even a thank you. Gah. But I don’t have many choices. “Do you have plans tonight?” Annie made a non-committal noise as she disappeared into the bathroom. I swear that girl is going to be the death of me. “I need a favor.” I called into the bathroom after her. I won’t beg, but I will ask. Surely she will be reasonable about this. "Do you now?" “Yes, I do.” I do not like that look. She knows she has me at a disadvantage and she’s the kind of person that will make me pay for this forever. IF she says yes. “I need a ride into the city.” "Oh really? How inconvenient." I let out a huff. She is enjoying this way too much. “Would you be so kind as to take me into the city so I do not miss my... my concert.” "Your concert, huh?" “If you must know, I am meeting a friend and the tickets were hard to come by. So if you are not busy, I’d... I’d... I’d owe you .” "A friend, you say? I'm sure we could work something..." I have just opened myself up to an eternity of blackmail from this degenerate, but I think it’ll be worth it. “I’m sure we can… on the way to the concert hall.” I said picking up my handbag, hoping she’d get the hint. "Oh yeah, sure, just let me grab a jackey and do something with my hair," she answered. I do not like that look at all, I think I should be afraid. (Edited by Jen at 7:03 pm on Sep. 14, 2002)
poster:cammogirl Posted: 8:39 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 I had been lazing in the spas after an afternoon work-out when the intercom lit up on the door. The shrill voice of Jubilee called out on it, and I immediately froze as I heard what she said. "Cammo, Xavier's callin' us out to Frost's little magic hideaway," she said. "Something's gone wrong." I leapt up out of the spa, dragging my clothes onto my body, running as fast as I could with half-wet clothes hanging off me. As I made it to the locker-room I glanced to Remy. He smelt of food, cajun cooking I think, and his hair was a mess. We both got changed and raced into the briefing-room. Jubes was waiting for us, looking resplendant in her black leather uniform with bright yellow cording. "Come on guys," she said, grabbing Remy's arm and striding for the garage. "We're taking the X-chopper." Not as fast as the X-Jet, but we didn't really have the option to be picky. "What's going on?" I asked her. "Gonna tell you on the way there, champ," Jubes said, climbing inside the chopper and getting into the pilot's chair. Remy settled in next to her and I buckled up behind them. We all put on the head-gear so we could hear each other clearly once the chopper started up. "This morning, as you know, Xavier sent in the cavalry. Seems Emma has been playing with Cassie's mind - got her brainwashed real good." Remy snorted. "Geez. Like we couldn't see dat one comin'. Should 'ave dragged her out of dere, kickin' an' screamin', from de get go." Jubes shook her head at Remy. "Babe, we're not like that, and you know it." Remy just snorted again. "Anyways, it's the mother of all mutant tussles down there, and they need our back-up." I laughed, and it wasn't a mirthful one. "What am I gonna do? Jump out at people out of nowhere and say 'boo'?" I was a reconnaissance type mutant. I was useless in a fight. Jubilee's voice went firm. "You'll do what Xavier's trained you to do, mister." I chilled. I'd never heard Jubilee talk like that before. Wow. I looked out the window. New York was rolling away behind us, and ahead we'd be getting into the biggest fight I'd ever have been in before. I wouldn't admit it to anyone, but I was afraid.
poster:Amezri Posted: 8:54 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 OOC: Just so we're clear: Nacey rocks! Thanks for the help! /How did we get to this point?/ she thought as she ducked a sheet of ice. /They are--were my friends and here we are, fighting against each other./ She directed a stream of water intuitively, hitting Iceman square in the chest. He flew backwards, tripping up Pyro. "Cass, we don't need to do it this way!" Rogue shouted. /No, we don't./ "It's too late for negotiations!" Hydra spat as she shot orbs of hot water at her former friend. She found herself thinking from the dark corner of her mind that this wasn't her. That she would never, ever hurt her friends. Yet here she was. Hours ago, things were simple. She was in the training room, learning some new techniques from Emma. The girls were planning a trip to town that afternoon for some heavy duty shopping. Before she knew it, the New Hellions were called to the briefing room and the X-Men were invading Hellfire Mansion. They were trying to take her from her home. Husk had shed her skin again, mimicing Beast's physical appearance. He was prepared for her it, however, and easily deflected her clumsy attack. To his left, Pyro was helping Drake to his feet. Emma Frost's students were much better organized than he had expected and he hoped that he, Bobby, and St. John would be able to hold off while the Professor and Jean tried to extract Frost's presence from Cassandrea's mind. {Cassandrea, remember who you were. Who you are.} She froze for the slightest moment as Xavier's voice permeated her mind. The delay was long enough for Rogue and Kurt to jump in and tackle her to the ground. Instinctively, Hydra shifted to her liquid form and slithered out of their grasp. Jean was ready for this and quickly encased her in a dome of psychic energy. {You won't be able to save her, Charles,} Emma told him from the safety of her office. "Professor, I can't hold her for long," Jean grimaced. It was hard for her to concentrate on such a large task with the battle raging around her. Domino was about to deliver a nasty blow to the head when Wolverine intercepted her. "Let me out of here, you red-headed bitch!" Cassie screamed. She threw everything she had at the shield - and it seemed to be working. Little by little, she was wearing it down. Jean struggled against her, but was tiring quickly. It was clear that Cassandrea's powers were far more advanced than what they were less than a month ago. "Professor..." {Cassandrea, please listen to me. Emma is using you.} {Don't listen to him, my dear. He's trying to take you away for us,} Emma projected sweetly. She would not lose her prime pupil to Xavier. Not this time. "Goddess of darkness and goddess of light, shatter this cage and aid my flight!" Hydra chanted. Jean's psychic barrier fragmented like broken glass, falling away. "You cannot hope to hold her," Emma taunted with Cassandrea's voice. Through Cassandrea's eyes, Emma watched the battle with cold calculation. Cyclops was cornered by Blink and Calisto, narrowly dodging the time-splintering darts Blink shot. Husk and Marrow were keeping the Beast occupied while Domino toyed with the Wolverine. Marrow and Rahne had lured the Iceman and Pyro away from the main fight. Everything was going to plan and there was nothing Xavier could do to stop her. She would be the only teacher that the new generation of mutants would need. She would train to be stronger, better, more in control of their powers. She had told him many a time that his training program was too soft; that his students would never be able to defend themselves in the harsh, human world. He refused to see that she was right and now victory and vindication would be hers! "Cassie, please, stop this!" Nightcrawler pleaded. "We don't want to hurt you!" /Mein gott, that sounds stupid,/ Kurt thought grimly. There was no way that they could hurt Cassandrea or slow her down enough for the Professor to remove emma from her mind. Dumb as the plan was, he was going to try and talk her down. The real her was in there somewhere, and he was hoping that she wouldn't let him be killed. "I would not advise coming any closer, Elf," Hydra spat. "Your love may not wish to harm you, but I have no such reservations."
poster:cammogirl Posted: 9:28 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 Jubilee landed the chopper, and I could see the 'tussle' she had mentioned. What a lovely, euphamistic word that was. Holy shit, this tiny little war of powers made the movie 'Fight Club' look like a children's birthday party. Jubilee undid her seatbelt, barking orders as she went. "Ladybug's parked. You guys set?" "Yes Ma'am," both Remy and I replied, probably a little tiredly. We jumped out, and I immediately shifted to invisibility. No use the enemy knowing I'm here right away. We ran up to Cyclops. He looked in a hell of a state. Blood trickled down his face, and his clothes were ripped. Nearby Logan and Rogue were battling with some weird looking mutants, flipping them back and keeping them away from Cassie, who was before us looking... wow. Scarier than I ever remember her looking in my entire time at the Mansion. I swear... there was something weird about her eyes. As if something in them wasn't her. When she spoke, I knew it wasn't her. I didn't hear what she said to Xavier, because I was too freaked out right at that moment... Her eyes were searching around my body space, and I had a feeling she knew something was amiss - like me. She seemed to be confused though, and her eyes would dart about. I ran behind Cyclops, keeping close. "Sir, I think she can sense my mind." "Probably," Cyke said, and shot his rays out at a few people. "Get a stun gun from the Blackbird. Sneak up behind her if you can and hit her while she's in human form! Hurry!" So I bolted to the Blackbird, grabbed the gun in question and raced back, mind whirling as to how best to do this. I ducked back and forth, sticking close to people, being careful not to trip them. I needed to hide amongst other people's brainwaves... I couldn't have her pin me down too soon. I watched her as I got closer. People would approach her, and in a moment she'd slip, morph, become this billowing watery thing in the air. If it hadn't been the situation it was, it would have been a very beautiful sight. Finally, she shifted to human form again, facing off with Jean. I ran forward till I was barely two feet away from her, aimed, my finger quivering on the trigger. Suddenly, Cassie spun about and stared right at me. There was no mistaking it this time. She knew I was there. An amused smile broke out on her face, and it wasn't Cassie's smile. "Nice try, little boy," she said. A gasp fell through her then, and she chuckled. "So you like water do you? Let's see how you like this..." She rushed at me, and slipped out of human form again. Water rushed into my nostrils, down my throat. Tears were in my eyes and I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. The air was shoved from my lungs, and I fell to the ground. I'd never felt such utter panic, such pain, in all my life. Of a sudden, my lungs shifted from the aching of a lack of air to burning! Oh God... Oh God... I gripped the grass under me, my mind tumbling into darkness. With the last bit of effort I had, I thought of Annie...
poster:Amezri Posted: 10:41 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 Cassie struggled with Emma's hold over her. Cammo's slowing heartbeat echoed through her consciousness. It wasn't supposed to be like this. She just wanted training. She just wanted to be stronger... {Cassandrea, let Cameron go.} /I can't, Professor. I can't stop her!/ The pounding became less frequent, signaling Cammo's impending death. /Please. Make her stop./ {You can stop her, Cassie.} Outside, Jean used all the strength left in her to contain the liquid spilling into Cammo's lungs, keeping Emma from doing any more damage to his soft tissue. She hoped that Emma would weaken soon - keeping up this battle was too much multi-tasking even for the strongest telepath. {I need a distraction!} she broadcasted frantically to the team. Without pause, Kurt lept into action. Having faced her powers before, he knew that any attack he attempted would be useless. Winning wasn't a priority - Jean just needed something else to divert Emma's attention. The tactic worked. Hydra reverted back into her human form, leaving an unconscious Cammo lying on the ground. "You are her last true emotional tie, do you know that, Elf?" Emma made Cassandrea smile viciously. "Once she kills you, her mind will be too far gone to be saved." Emma drew on the knowledge in Cassandrea's mind, using it to unleash an ability Xavier had tried to keep dormant. /No! You can't kill him!/ What was left of Cassandrea's mind fought violently against the White Queen's hold. /I won't let you kill him!/ {I can do with you as I wish,} came Emma's snide reply. Her strength was decreasing, but she had more than enough left to complete this simple task. She would use her puppet's control of water to boil the Elf alive. Every drop of water in his body would be vaporized and he would die a slow, excruciating death. {Cassandrea, stop this!} the Professor demanded. "She cannot stop me, Charles," she spoke in Cassandrea's voice. "Nor, for that matter, can you." "Don't be so sure of that, sugah," Rogue snarled, placing a bare hand firmly on the side of Cassandrea's all too human face. Feelings of pain and regret flooded into her as Cassandrea lost consciousness. "Someone get her out of here!" Rogue shouted. She cursed as Wolfsbane tried to rip her arm off. "Professor!" {Mission accomplished. All members evacuate the area immediately!} Kurt quickly scooped Cassandrea up and teleported aboard the Blackbird, where Bobby and St. John were already waiting. The Professor and Jean boarded seconds later, ducking a bone spear Marrow launched at them. Scott, Hank, and Rogue ducked inside while Wolverine, carrying Cammo in a fireman's hold, followed Jubilee, and Remy aboard the X-Chopper. Emma Frost hadn't won this round, but the X-Men couldn't claim this as a victory, either. The road to recovery would be long for all parties involved.
poster:Jen Posted: 11:47 pm on Sep. 14, 2002 Needing to work off some nervous energy before her ‘date’, Sarah went down downstairs run. She loathed the treadmill; feeling like a deranged hamster on it, but right now it didn’t matter. If she didn’t work some of this off she was going to explode, but as she stepped out of her room, she was immediately sorry. Angelica was coming down the hall in a beautiful silky green dress, and even the annoyed look on her face couldn’t take away from how beautiful she was. Sarah’s heart sank. That was wearing something nice. That was something she couldn’t even hope to aspire to. No wonder Max never took her out. Sighing, Sarah returned to her room to get dressed. Not that there wasn’t much for her to do. Her hair wasn’t long enough to fuss with and while she stared at Cassandrea’s makeup for a while, she couldn’t work up the courage to try it without her roommate around to help. Not wanting to look as if she’d done nothing different, she settled on a lip-gloss just as Max knocked on her door. “Come,” she called, a bit of her nervousness creeping into her voice. Max opened the door, fiddling with his furry fingers, smiling a little. "Hey... thing are going to be a bit weird tonight." "Oh? Does it have something to do with why Remy and Jubes nearly knocked me over heading for the lower levels an hour ago?" He sighed. "Yeah. Luckily, Remy had finished making the dinners - they're in the warming oven. But he and Jubes and Cammo are off to mutant war by the looks of things and left me the job of bringing out the food for you. I hope you don't mind." Sarah looked confused. “Why would I mind? We’re still going to eat, right?” "Well, yeah," he nodded. "I just - well... it would have been nice for me to stay at the table and not run in and out serving the different courses..." Courses? The butterflies in Sarah’s stomach became vultures. What was the rule about forks? She asked herself. Max stopped. "Oh shit. I just ruined the surprise!" Sarah went up on tiptoes and gave him a light kiss. “I am surprised. Thank you.” Max nodded, rolling his eyes and looking defeated. "Yeah. Well you don't know where we'll be eating it. You already know now that it's a Cajun meal." “And I know it won’t be the cafeteria,” she said sticking her tongue out at him. At his groan, she slipped her hand in his. “Come on. Anything you put shoes on for has got to be good. Let’s go. The suspense is killing me.” “One sec,” he said pulling a cloth napkin from his back pocket. “I need to keep some of my surprise.” Sarah grinned as Max blindfolded her. “Tonight is going to be interesting,” she cooed, sorry that she couldn’t see his blush as he led her down the hall.
poster:Allison Posted:12:45 am on Sep. 15, 2002 Angelica looked so nice in her fancy clothes, which is exactly why I was in the bathroom, applying as much black makeup as I could in three minutes, and slipping on my spiked dog collars and bracelets. When I stepped out of the bathroom I saw that Angelica had already left, she was probably waiting down by the door. I shrugged to myself and opened the closet, gently feeling around for my denim jacket. “Ow!” I said, knowing immediately that I had found it. The spikes on the sleeves made it a bit dangerous, and my mom banned me from wearing it in the house because she was worried it would mess up the paint on the walls. I pulled it out and slipped it on carefully, I snagged me keys off of my dresser, and head downstairs. I saw her by the entryway and her eyes widened when she saw me. “You must be jo-“ she cut her self off, and closed her eyes. “Ok then… I suppose we should be going.” I was surprised at how well she was handling it until I realized, she was desperate for a ride and couldn’t risk pissing me off and losing her transportation. I did my best not to cackle with glee, no matter what I did, she couldn’t react. She opened her umbrella when we got to the door, I just ran out to my car ignoring the splatter of rain, I quickly unlocked my door and slid inside. I turned the key in the ignition and it roared to life. I fished around in my CD case and pulled one out. I put it in the player and skipped ahead to the song I wanted. I sat there tapping my fingers, I finally saw Angelica come around the other side and open the door. She sat down in the seat and closed her umbrella, her face scrunched up, “What is this?” I grinned as I drove down the driveway, “Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict.” “What?” I smiled as I repeated, “Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave grooving with a pict. It’s a song.” “Oh, is it?” she sounded doubtful. I tried not to laugh at the obvious torment she was going through. By the time we reached the city, UmmaGumma had been replaced with System of a Down, and I would bet my right arm that she wished I would put the Pink Floyd back on. “So where exactly is Carnegie Hall?” I asked. She looked at me as though she had never met anyone who didn’t know where to find Carnegie Hall. After a moments pause she said, “79th Street and 11th Avenue, just off Central Park.” “Ok,” I made the turn I needed and kept bouncing my head to the loud music. As we got closer she spoke up, “You can just drop me a few blocks away, you don’t need to drive all the way up.” “Nonsense, in this weather? Plus you never know what could happen in the city at night, I’ll even wait with you until you find your friend.” She visibly paled. Again I had to tamp down the need to cackle. When we stopped across the street and a little bit down the street from the building, she asked again, “Are you sure you want to go out into the rain? Couldn’t you just stay here?” “Really I’m not worried about the weather, I want to make sure that you meet up with your friends,” I said sincerely. I saw her clench the inside of her cheek. “Let’s go then.” She opened up the door and her umbrella simultaneously, I soon followed, locking the doors. We hurried across the street, and Angelica always stayed a few feet away. “So what’s this guy look like?” I asked. “I never said it was a guy,” she responded. “You didn’t have to. What’s he look like?” “He’s tall, with black hair.” I spotted one, “Like him?” She curled a lip in disgust, “He’s 17, not 37.” I heard an accented voice behind us call, “Angelica? Is that you?”
